How BookShare Works

From listing a book to getting it back — the full rental journey

For Book Owners
  1. Upload your book with its details, condition, a monthly lending price, and the maximum number of months you're willing to rent it out for.
  2. An admin reviews and approves the listing before it goes live to readers.
  3. When a reader sends a rental request, you can approve or reject it. Approving lets the reader confirm they've received the book, which starts the rental clock.
  4. Your share of the rental price (75%, after platform commission) is credited once an admin releases the payout for that rental.
  5. When the reader is done, they send a return request; confirming it closes out the rental and restores the book to your available copies.
For Readers
  1. Browse or search for a book, check its lending price (shown per month) and the owner's maximum rental duration.
  2. Send a rental request and choose how many months you'd like to borrow it for.
  3. Once the owner approves, confirm you've received the book — this deducts the rental price (lending price × months) from your wallet balance and starts your due date.
  4. Read, then request a return when you're done. If the owner doesn't confirm receipt of the return, or the book is never delivered in the first place, you can raise a dispute for an admin to review.
  5. Rate the book and the owner once your rental is complete.
Wallet & Payments

All payments run through your in-app wallet, topped up via our secure payment gateway. A small minimum balance is required to keep requesting or receiving books — see our Payment Info page for details.

Disputes

If a rental doesn't go as expected — a book never arrives, or isn't returned — either side can raise an issue directly on the order. Our team reviews every dispute and mediates a resolution; see our Refund & Dispute Policy for how that works.
