Terms of Service

This is a general template covering the platform's actual features. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer — have qualified legal counsel review and adapt it before relying on it as a binding agreement.
1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using BookShare, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering and are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You must be legally able to enter into agreements to use BookShare.

3. Listing & Renting Books

Owners are responsible for accurately describing each book's condition and setting a fair lending price and maximum rental duration. Readers are responsible for taking reasonable care of a rented book and returning it in the same condition by its due date.

4. Wallet, Payments & Payouts

Rentals are paid for through your BookShare wallet. Owners receive a share of the rental price once an admin releases payout for a completed rental; the remaining share is retained as platform commission. Withdrawals of owner earnings are subject to admin review.

5. Disputes & Compensation

If a book is not delivered or not returned, either party may raise a dispute for admin review. Any compensation awarded is at the platform's discretion and is capped by the book's market price and the responsible party's available balance.

6. Prohibited Conduct
  • Listing books you do not own or have the right to lend
  • Providing false information about a book's condition or availability
  • Attempting to complete a rental or payment outside the platform to avoid fees
  • Harassing or abusing other users
7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including accounts banned as a result of a resolved dispute.

8. Limitation of Liability

BookShare facilitates connections between readers and owners but is not a party to the rental agreement between them. We are not liable for loss, damage, or disputes arising from a rental beyond the admin-mediated resolution process described in our Refund & Dispute Policy.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of BookShare after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
